About

Get to know me

I have over 15 years’ experience leading fast-growing nonprofits that focus on using coaching to decrease racial disparities in educational outcomes. Having been an Executive Director at Summer Search Boston and Chief of Growth and Strategy at Duet during times of significant growth I have deep experience with the many challenges leaders face. I value meaningful relationships, a regular practice of self-reflection, honest feedback, and leaders who are ambitious in their professional and personal lives.

As a mother to two young daughters, I’m intimately familiar with the competing demands on working parents and offer a space to vent along with practical support for this chapter of life. I am a graduate of Boston College and have my master’s degree in teaching and began my career teaching middle school in the South Bronx. I’m originally from Western Mass and am one of 8 children. I love yoga and reading and talking about books and parenting. I live outside Boston with my husband and daughters and you can find me photographing my crew surfing on beaches up and down the New England coast 12 months out of the year.

Clients & Organizations I Serve

Executive Directors/CEOs, Development Directors, other Senior Leadership

Even seasoned leaders need support and thought partnership, especially for sustainability. I provide guidance that is objective and grounded in experience.

Nonprofits and Companies

Organizations need support developing talent and addressing mission critical questions. I do both in an efficient, cost-effective way that brings needed skills into the organization without increasing your headcount. I work with one team member, or several, to develop talent and support strategy in many strategic areas.

Emerging Leaders

Any individual recently promoted to a role where they are managing a team or a program can benefit from extra support. From new managers to new Executive Directors, I advise them as they face new challenges and acquire new skills. No need to learn everything by trial and error.

Career Developers

As people consider how to advance in their current organization or what their career will look like in the future, having a coach will help them crystallize their goals and outline the steps to achieve them. I love nothing more than helping people advocate for a raise and/or promotion and get it!

Parents in Leadership

Parenthood is tricky – especially for those with a big job and many competing demands. I am a sounding board for parents during this intense phase of life and, based on their needs, I provide professional advice and guidance to help establish what their “new life” will look like

What does this work look like?

I work with each client or organization individually to customize a plan that best fits their needs. Meetings are generally on zoom and each conversation includes both coaching and strategic advice.

Coaching

I focus on the continued development of the individual as both a professional and a person. Some of the skills that we work on include how they present and communicate, understanding patterns that appear across their lives, and developing skills to better manage tricky leadership situations.

Strategy

I provide advice that is practical and tactical. My clients walk away from each session with actionable plans they can immediately implement. For example: a stronger presentation, talking points for a challenging conversation, new fundraising strategies and budgeting skills, HR advice for a tricky personnel issue, or a roadmap to execute an important initiative.

I differentiate my work from consulting because I have found that it’s hard for individuals outside of the organization to come up with plans and strategies for others to implement. However, a coach can work in partnership with the right leaders on the team and through a series of conversations create a plan that they own fully and therefore execute.
